Paiseec Wheelchair for Strength: Help Sam Stay Independent
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Sam, and I am raising funds for a Paiseec 2-in-1 Electric Wheelchair $1333 (W1) (https://www.paiseec.com/products/paiseec-2-in-1-electric-wheelchair-w1). I live with a severe traumatic brain injury, complex regional pain syndrome, nerve damage, autonomic nervous system disorder, hypermobility, apraxia, neuropathy, a spinal cord injury, vasovagal syncope, fibromyalgia, and muscle weakness/spasms that make walking, standing, and working extremely difficult. I have been confirmed to have a mast cell disorder and have been tracking symptoms for MCAS as well. I currently use a rollator for work and for 1-2 hours at a time if I have energy to get out. I also use a transport wheelchair, that I got from an estate sale for $25 brand new in the box, for periods longer than 2 hours when my husband can push me around.
This is all from a car accident that happened in January 2021. Before my accident, I spent most of my time outdoors, hiking, fishing, kayaking, and backpacking through mountains. I did not have health issues before the accident. After the accident, I went through years of physical and speech therapy and taught myself how to walk and talk again. I have been an instructor, technician, and retail space manager at a nonprofit makerspace for the past year where we have sponsored programs for high school students and a business accelerator program for the community to get trained on different tools such as 3D printers, laser machines, CNC routers, sticker machines, and more. I’m rolling around a lot but I don’t think I can keep up with it all anymore. My pain is getting worst, and flare ups are becoming more common.
My legs often shake until I fall, and even short periods of standing trigger back pain, muscle spasms, and joint pain. I have fallen several times at work and at home just this past week. Right now, I use all of my limited energy just to get through work and make my artwork, in order to pay bills. I have been rolling around my work in a chair and moving around like that. By the time I finish work, I have nothing left for exercise, hobbies, or spending time with friends and family. I have had my in-person job for 1 year now, and I rarely have time to do anything but that.
I want to break that cycle. This wheelchair would give me the stability and mobility I need to prevent falls, reduce fatigue, and conserve energy for the things that could actually improve my health, like swimming, gentle gym workouts, and physical therapy.
Any contribution helps me get closer to safety, independence, and a better quality of life. Thank you so much for your support. It means the world to me.
