Odyssey of the Mind (OM) is a creative problem solving competition for students of all ages.  Teams of 7 students select a problem, create a solution, then present their solution in a competition against other teams in the same problem and age division.  The problem is solved through the team working together to brainstorm, construct and present the solution to judges.  Teams have 8 minutes to present their full problem.  Our team has been working on our problem for eight months, putting in 100s of hours.  Last year, we placed 4th in the World and had the highest finish for a US team.  In previous years, we have placed 6th and 9th. 

This year, Worlds is in Ames, Iowa on May 25-28. 

We have been selling spirit sticks at school every week to help with the cost.  We are doing many school based fundraising drives, such as "gum day", "hat day", "extra recess day" and are selling drinks and glow sticks at our school carnival. We are also talking to local businesses, asking for corporate sponsorships.

We are hoping to raise money to send the 7 team members, 3 coaches and 12 parents to Worlds.  The money raised will help pay for airfare, food and lodging (we stay in dorms at Iowa State University) and super fun stuff like team shirts, trading pins and goofy hats to wear to Opening and Closing ceremonies.
