Paige is a very determined young lady. Paige lives with optic nerve hypoplasia and nystagmus, both of which are congenital vision disorders which cannot be corrected. Paige never complains about her disorders; in fact, she is rarely without a smile on her face and a friendly word for anyone she encounters. Paige does not let her disability shrink her world. Paige's vision is severely limited but through her incredible tenacity, she has learned to use adaptive technology to navigate. She is very active in her school and community, maintaining an impressive GPA while volunteering her time to help others.
Recently, Paige was given the opportunity to attend a demonstration of a remarkable pair of glasses that have the potential to literally change her life. eSight technology gives visually impaired people the ability to see. This is not an exaggeration. Paige was immediately overwhelmed with being able to see everything. While she is excited to tell you about seeing numbers for the first time and how she could see the pillars of the Ben Franklin Bridge out of the window of the office, it is truly astonishing when she tells you about seeing her mom’s face for the first time. Paige is sixteen. Obviously we have to get her these glasses.
Paige is considered a good candidate for the glasses, based on her medical records and her office visit. eSight technology is expensive.
