Paige’s breast cancer journey
Donation protected
Paige Williams is 28 years old. Paige has two beautiful little girls who are 3 and 1 years old. In September 2024 Paige was seen by health professionals as she had pains in her left breast. After multiple biopsy’s and an ultrasound Paige was told on the 25/10/2024 that she had full breast cancer in her left breast which had spread to her lymph nodes in her armpit. On the 08/11/2024 after further tests and investigations, Paige was told her breast tumour had grown from 2cm to 9cm resulting in more testing and checking her right breast. On the 29/11/2024, Paige was told she will be having a full breast mastectomy and her lymph node removed. The surgery was scheduled for the 02/01/2025 with chemotherapy to follow.
On the 14/12/2024 Paige attended an emergency appointment where she received yet more devastating news that her breast cancer was known as stage 3 ER + HER2 + inflammatory breast cancer which is rare and only affects around 5% of cancer patients. This is where the skin around the breast was infected as well as the tissue inside. This meant that Paige was unable to have the surgery as planned due to her skin and tissue being too damaged and chemotherapy needed to start with immediate effect. Paige attended her chemotherapy pre-assessment on the 20/12/2024 and had her first chemotherapy session on Christmas Eve. Paige has been put into early menopause and has been told it is likely that she will not be able to have any more children due to the damage to her ovaries. After cutting her hair short, Paige braved the shave on the 13/01/2025.
Paige will now have four rounds of chemotherapy; paclitaxel and gemcitabine combined. She is due to have a full single mastectomy of her left breast with nipple removal included and full lymph node removal from her underarm and top of her left arm. Paige will then have a minimum of 15 sessions of radiotherapy and 10 years of hormone therapy to stop her estrogen production in the future. Paige has been told she will not be able to have a reconstruction of her breast until 2 years after her treatment has finished and is awaiting results for her BRCA gene genetics tests from Guys Hospital where she will be offered a double mastectomy if the result is positive.
With Paige’s reluctant permission I have set up this GoFundMe page to help her and her family face this overwhelming challenge. Funds go directly to Paige and will help with medical expenses, day to day essentials, travel to treatment, childcare, wigs etc. Hopefully we can raise enough for Paige to organise something magical for her and her girls to do once this nightmare is over. Paige is an absolute inspiration to not only her two little girls but to all those out there fighting cancer. You can follow Paige’s journey on her TikTok page where she documents her chemotherapy journey, hair loss and her day to day to business of having breast cancer. Lets give something positive back to Paige and her family!
