Ellen's mother (Beverly) and two brothers (Phil and Barry) and nephew, Myron, had an electrical fire in their home last week. Thankfully everyone was awake and Phil and Barry discovered the danger in time to get everyone out. The warning started when they noticed the refridgerator had turned off. Phil went to the circuit breaker to check on the breaker. When he saw it was off, he flipped it and sparks flew. Moments after that, Barry smelled smoke and went to Bev's room and saw the carpet was on fire and there was heavy amounts of black smoke. They called 911 and everyone made it out of the apartment and building without being hurt but the home itself, sustained significant damage. Beveryly lost everything in her bedroom, the fire department had to break every window in the home (all 14) to release the smoke and the bedroom was drenched in water to put out the fire. While the fire itself was contained to Bev's room, the black smoke permeated the entire apartment and they have lost almost everything. A film of black soot covers all the furniture, walls and their possessions. The family is working with the management agent to rebuild the structural components of the apartment but Beverly needs new furniture, a new mattress, new bedding and to replace clothing . Barry, Phil, Myron and Bev are using Ellen and Chris's house as home base and staying with friends on certain evenings. The inspectors are still coming and going and Beverly's room is still inaccessible until all of the inspectors and fire marshall have written up their reports. The family does not have any insurance so all donations, of any amount are appreciated. Please show your love and support to all of them.
