Paddling against cancer
Donation protected
*Update: We smashed our original goal of £500 within the first 24 hours. lets see if we can hit £1000
Whilst my partner and I were away, my partners mum took a sudden turn for the worse with her cancer battle, and we were informed she was at end of life treatment with doubts she would make it through the next couple of days.
Since then she has got stronger and didn’t want to give up, and now has been offered treatment to help prolong her life; but unfortunately the outcome will still be the same. After seeing Lorraine look her cancer in the eye and give it one last fight has inspired me to do a fight of my own.
This winter I will attempt to paddle the Dart Loop section as many times as possible in a 24 hour period. Paddling grade 2(3) for repeatedly will not be easy, I would ideally be fitter and better prepared however, those who get cancer do so without warning and are forced to fight with what energy they have, so I shall do the same.
This will not be done without thought or consideration, appropriate safety will be in place throughout the day and night as well as a dedicated shuttle team and off the water team sorting food and care.
Where you come in is by donating what you can. We will be helping to raise money for Musgrove Beacon Ward. The team provide the care for people during their cancer fight and at the end of their life and need all the help they can get.
