My name is Chantal, and I am writing on behalf of our daughter, Geneviève, a dedicated young sprint kayaker with the Carleton Place Canoe Club and a proud member of the Team Ontario Development Academy.

This coming March 2026, Geneviève has an opportunity to join Ontario athletes at a three-week high-performance training camp in Vila Nova de Milfontes, Portugal. This international camp brings together some of the most promising young paddlers and elite coaches to train in world-class facilities, providing an early start to the competitive season and preparation for Ontario and National Team Trials.

The total cost of the camp — including coaching, accommodations, and travel — is about $4,500. Every bit of support, big or small, helps her get one step closer to representing Ontario, and hopefully one day Canada, on the world stage.

At only 15, Geneviève has already shown remarkable dedication to her sport and continuous improvement both on and off the water. She has been training with the Carleton Place Canoe Club since a young age, spending her summers on the Mississippi River and her winters in gym, ergometer sessions, swimming and cross country skiing, maintaining her focus year-round.

Geneviève has earned recognition through her consistent performances at provincial regattas, her commitment to team culture, and her selection to the 2025 Team Ontario Development Academy, a program that identifies and supports athletes with high-performance potential. Her determination, discipline, and sportsmanship have made her a role model for younger paddlers and a valued teammate within her club community.
