Packard Family Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
The loved ones of Neal Packard and his family are asking for your help. Neal is a lifelong Beverly, MA resident and has been recently diagnosed with two types of cancer. He has spent his life as a hardworking chef, passionate outdoorsman, traveler, and proud Freemason. Most importantly, he is the dedicated husband to his wife Jen and father of three amazing teenage boys, Ben, Sam, and Tim. He is eager to fight hard so that he may return to his career and spend time with his family.
In December 2020, Neal was diagnosed with colon cancer. As he began treatment for that, he soon developed what doctors initially believed was “a bad infection” in his abdomen. After many tests and much confusion, the infection turned out to be a rare form of cancer called Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (literally one in a million people get it). Now facing a battle with two forms of cancer, Neal learned both had originated from a cancerous appendix (which had ruptured in 2019 but did not uncover a cancer diagnosis).
On April 15, 2021, Neal underwent extensive surgery and HIPEC chemotherapy at Massachusetts General Hospital to remove a large abdominal tumor which was compromising his major organs and blood supplies. His surgeons reported that the procedure was difficult, and due to the complexity of the surgery, Neal is facing a long and challenging recovery before his next battle with chemotherapy and radiation begins.
Despite the strength and perseverance of the Packard family, Neal’s illness and medical care have had a devastating emotional and financial impact on their household. Neal is currently unable to work, and the Packards now need our help as he embarks on his long journey of recovery and pursuit of restored health.
This family has been generous and giving to many people over many years, and have never before asked for help. At this time we humbly ask friends, family, and community members to rally around a family that needs support as they face the most trying time of their lives. Neal and his family are committed to fighting his cancer and any showing of love, kindness, financial donation, or otherwise will send the message that they are not alone. Any support you send is so deeply appreciated, and thank you for considering.
