Our goal is to row 2800 miles across the Pacific Ocean, inspire a generation of girls and women, and raise £150,000 for our chosen charity, Cancer Research UK.
In June 2024, we will set off on our attempt to complete the World’s Toughest Row – Pacific Challenge. The challenge is a 2800-mile unsupported row from Monterey Bay, California to Kauai, Hawaii. The row is an extreme endurance race where teams from across the globe test themselves against mother nature. We will endure serious sleep deprivation, sea sickness, huge calorie deficits, hallucinations, heat stroke, salt sores, and all the weather and waves the Pacific Ocean throws at us - it will be the ultimate test of body and mind. To date, only seven women have ever rowed across both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Between now and June 2024, the three of us will spend almost every day preparing ourselves - mentally and physically - for this huge challenge ahead.
We are the 'Pacific Triow' – Charlotte Irving, Jess Goddard and Taylor Winyard – three ocean rowing adventurers with a second ocean crossing and world record attempt in our sights! We met competing in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge in separate crews, rowing 3000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean between December 2021 and January 2022.
Taylor was the first of us to reach land in Antigua after 40 days at sea as part of ‘Team Atlantic Nomads’. Taylor set a new world record for the fastest mixed trio to cross the Atlantic Ocean. Jess and her team, ‘In Deep Ship,’ made land two days later, completing a world first as a mixed team of four – three women and one man. Just two hours later, Charlotte reached Antigua, setting a new world record for the fastest female trio, alongside her ‘ExtraOARdinary’ teammates.
For a challenge of this scale, getting to the start line can be as testing as the event itself. Preparing to row across the Pacific Ocean takes time, training and money. Any donation, however big or small, will help us reach our goal.
Thank you so much in advance,
Jess, Charlotte and Taylor
