Support me on my Dual Degree Masters Pursuit at BC

Dear friends and community,

My name is Pablo Idrovo and I am asking for your help. I was born in Ecuador and moved to the United States with my family when I was ten. The U.S. has become my home and is a country I'm grateful for providing me many opportunities.  I am from a low income family, and the first generation in my family to graduate with a college degree.  I'm pursuing a dual master’s degree at Boston College in both Social Work and Theology and Ministry.  Thanks to God I been admitted to both schools separately and into the dual degree program! I wished that I had the money and funding to be able to not bother you but since I will be full-time academically during the fall, spring, summers to complete the dual degree,  alongside working part-time jobs, I won’t be able to afford this by myself.

Unfortunately, due to the difficult times we live in, the School of Social Work has been very careful in giving out scholarship money, since they do not know what funding will look like in the upcoming years. That is why I am reaching out to all of you. Since the School of Social Work has decided to not provide me any funding even after I appealed their decision. This would mean that my second and third year of the dual degree program I will need to pay $38,460 out of pocket for each year. I come to you to ask you for any financial help you can provide to achieve my higher education. A higher education I want to use for creating or working for a community organization that helps low-income individuals, no matter their background, with career opportunities.  This dreams stems from my own experiences and experiences from others in our often broken labor system. In this GoFundMe I’m asking for help in paying for my second year of the dual degree program under the School of Social Work, since I’ve heard that there’s funding opportunities for the third and final year of the dual degree from  students.

I will be doing my best to fundraise money on my own. I am currently working 20 hours a week as a graduate assistant in BC’s Campus Ministry. Aside from this work, I will be working an eight hour a week job helping with handyman work at a Center in Brighton MA. Furthermore, I been searching and applying to other part time jobs to be able to afford my education and living expenses, including scholarships and grants.

Thank you again for your consideration and generosity, any amount is welcomed, even pennies :)

Sincerely,

Pablo Idrovo
