Once again, we are mobilizing to support the people of Puerto Rico. After Hurricane Fiona, the entire island has been designated as a disaster area, affected by floods never seen in recent history, causing major damage to roadways, bridges, agriculture, and to the already severely weakened infrastructure due to Hurricane Maria in 2017...
In response to the current dire situation faced by families in most devasted areas of the
island, Lotus of Compassion Inc., a nonprofit 501 (c3) Tax Exempt Disaster Relief Organization
has activated its volunteer-based humanitarian efforts. Lotus of Compassion, (LOC) has teamed with The Boys Scouts of America Campamento Guajataca, Mothers Mission Puerto Rico, and other grassroots efforts on the island to identify, address and advocate on behalf of families facing critical needs that require immediate attention. Along with our group collective, we have identified ways in which we, as a people, can effectively carry out a united effort and support.
With the change of season, it gets dark early on the island, and students may be unable to do homework; even if electrical power is restored, outages will undoubtedly continue. Solar lights are not just an immediate disaster prevention but a long-term supply reality.
Our goal will allow us to purchase and distribute solar-powered lights with chargers for one thousand students from ten selected schools within the flood-affected areas that lack or are facing continuous power outages of electricity and water, as well as other urgently needed medical supplies in hard-to-reach areas.
Your contribution will be used to serve the people in need fully. Donors may deduct
donations made to LOC under the U.S. IRC 170.
