The Testimony (By Richie Annenberg):
"I have a problem, and I don’t know how to handle it. It’s about a friend of mine for over 40 years—a man who has been a member of our program for 41+ years. In our fellowship, we talk about the hand that reaches out to help the person who is struggling. Kevin Knox’s hand was always out there. If not one hand, it was two. He has helped hundreds, maybe thousands, regain their physical, mental, and emotional strength.
Three years ago, Kevin was stepping on to the street when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver. He was left in the middle of the street with half his body broken. He had done everything right—he had working, savings, insurance, Medicare, and Social Security. But instead of helping, the system turned on him."
The Financial Crisis:
Because of a massive bureaucratic entanglement, the government went into Kevin's insurance and seized over $58,000 of his income and has made deductions from his Social Security". On top of that, Medicare has a $120,000 lien against him, which has paralyzed his ability to settle his affairs, leaving him in a state of financial gridlock while he continues to heal.
Kevin is 76 years old. He is a fighter who is still in the gym and still dedicated to the recovery community. He is currently finishing his book, The Sober Lifestyle, to ensure his 41 years of wisdom isn't lost. But he can't finish the mission while the system has him pinned down."
Our Call to Action:
"Kevin has spent his life being the 'quiet force' for others. Now, he needs us to be that force for him. We are asking for any contribution—no matter how small—to help Kevin clear the deck, regain his stability, and return to the life of service he was living. Let's be the hand that reaches back."
