My name is Damilola Aderibigbe and my pen-name is D.M.Aderibigbe. I live and work in Lagos, Nigeria. Writing to me is not just a hobby, it is my life. It is my dream to become a great writer and a greater teacher who will share the love of literature. In line with this, over the years I have been sending poems and essays to numerous journals and I have been fortunate enough to get into numerous prominent American and British journals. However, I should mention that all of these successes came in between my tight life schedule where I have to work and usually return late. Many times I never get to put down ideas in my head due to my level of tiredness and I will eventually sleep off.
About 4 days ago, I received an invitation from a residency called Dickinson House based in Belgium to come and spend two weeks in an environment where I will have time for nothing else other than writing. This invitation comes with a 300 Euros grant out of the usual 980 Euros they charge for 2 weeks at their residency, leaving me with about 680 Euros to pay before April 14th. Aside from this, I also would have to pay for my travel expenses from Nigeria to Belgium as there are no provisions for that. It will be a dream come true if I can make it to this residency in order to have such an ample time to myself. Also, this is the first honour I will ever receive for my writing, and I will be grateful if I can get help to grab it with both hands.
