PA Olympics 2019 - I M ABLE

Donation protected

Hello! Thank you for choosing to donate to the IM ABLE Foundation and contribute to one of the eight Physician Assistant programs competing in the 2019 PA Olympics!

What is the PA Olympics? - A fundraising competition that was started in 2003 by Michael Huber, MMS, PA-C, DFAAPA. Each year, PA school programs in the Greater Philadelphia region go head-to-head to raise money for a local community-based organization! The competition culminates this year on April 13th at Bamboo Gardens in Vincentown, NJ; where students from each program come together for a day of medically themed sports activities to raise awareness for the chosen organization.

The PA programs involved in this year’s competition are Arcadia University, DeSales University, Drexel University, Jefferson University (Center City), Jefferson University (East Falls/Atlantic City), Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), Salus University, and Temple University. This year each school will compete to fundraise for the IM ABLE Foundation.

The mission of the IM ABLE Foundation is to remove obstacles that prevent people affected by disabilities from being physically active by providing grants, resources, fitness opportunities and motivation. We change attitudes about the potential of disabled individuals by redefining what is possible.

The IM ABLE Foundation was created by Chris Kaag, who from his own experience, became wheelchair- dependent from a degenerative nerve condition at the age of 21 while serving as a US Marine. The foundation now includes an IM FIT Inclusive Fitness program, which allows those with disabilities to enjoy group training with knowledgeable trainers who are experienced in mental and physical fitness for disabled persons, without having to pay substantial amounts for a specialized personal trainer at a typical gym. IM FIT also promotes disability advocacy, provides grants for adaptive equipment from hand cycling to snow and water sports and, holds fundraising events such as the IM ABLE Bash, Got the Nerve Triathlon, and various other races, which many of the IM ABLE participants compete in!

Since the event’s inception in 2003, over $167,000 has been raised for various local organizations including Miracle League (2018), VAST -Valley Against Sex Trafficking (2017), and the Mazzoni Center (2016). Last year the program reached a new record of fundraising with $24,500!

Please consider donating this year to the IM ABLE Foundation to help us reach our goal of $28,000!
