Hi there! First, thank you so much for taking a few moments to read my story! My name is Julie Aubin, I'm a US Army Veteran of the Persian Gulf War and like many other Veterans, I really struggle to ask for an assist when it's needed; but here I am. I am also in my first year of starting my own business, which as anyone knows can be a huge struggle, despite the joys and excitement that each day brings. I am a Christian based, nature focused in-home childcare provider. I love working with kiddos and strive to show children their strengths while exploring this beautiful world that God gave us! I have lived a really blessed life that I'm grateful for, but the past few years have been really difficult due to some expensive financial issues, (house repairs due to a crazy storm, blown motor in my vehicle and then a dead transmission in the same vehicle last year). It seems like I barely recover from one issue and another drops down, which is what brings me to this point. I have been a loyal client of American Home Shield since 2005 when I moved to TX with my family. It's no secret that they like to just put bandaids on issues and really fight against actually paying for anything, but I trusted that when it came to my air conditioning unit, they would eventually do the right thing. Well, they aren't. It's summer. In Texas. My unit quit cooling about four weeks ago. It's been nothing but a constant fight ever since! My unit is about thirty years old, uses R22 refrigerant, and just needs to be completely replaced. They are refusing to upgrade my system to a modern, more efficient and environmentally friendly unit. They again, want to piece meal junk together. They have proposed a new inside unit, that still requires R22 refrigerant - (This refrigerant will be $300/lb next year, so if/when my old antiquated system develops a leak, that is what I will be paying per pound, just to replace refrigerant). Their portion of the cost for their proposed solution is just $756 My cost $1625 The AC service company says a completely new system would be $5000. I can pay for what AHS would like to do, I can, but I feel as though I'd just be paying $1600 for a bandaid. As a single, divorced woman, I am very frugal with my finances - I have always been this way. I see the option AHS is giving me as a very poor investment of the last of my savings. It's heartwrenching to work so hard, just to be at this point... I am looking for assistance to help raise the balance after I invest the rest of my savings to upgrade my air conditioning system. I would truly appreciate any and all help. Please share my plea with everyone you know. Thank you.
