Service dog for Julia
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Julia, and I am 20 years old. I have been living with a chronic condition known as Functional Neurologic Disorder (FND) accompanied by involuntary tic-like movements, vocal noises, and non-epileptic seizures since 2019. This disorder has severely impaired my ability to do everyday things, including going out in public, attending college, and maintaining employment.
I am fundraising for a service dog that will quite literally change my life. The dog can be taught to manage the symptoms I am unable to control, i.e., seizures, dystonia (limb-locking), tics, panic, inability to retrieve things, difficulty walking, anxiety, tremors, sensory issues, etc. After a rigorous application process that took over a year, I have been selected to receive a service dog from Susquehanna Service Dogs (SSD). SSD is a non-profit organization that operates in partnership with Keystone Human Services in helping people with disabilities get back on their feet and become more independent. SSD trains dogs to properly monitor, calm, and help manage situations and symptoms that currently make it hard for me and others to function with our disabilities. Thank you for spending time with this post and donating, every amount means the world to me.
