My name is Mackenzie, and I'm here to save Chewy.

On November 9th, a little brown dog, now affectionately named Chewy, was hit by a car in front of me while stopped at a light in Long Beach, California. Immediately, I pulled over as cars rushed passed without a second thought. It was clear that his back right leg was severely broken. I rushed him to the local animal hospital, and awaited the results of his x rays. They confirmed my fears, his back right leg was shattered, with no chance of reconstruction. Chewy would need emergency surgery the next day to completely amputate his leg.

Due to the severity of the surgery, Chewy will require a lot of care and love after his operation. It was decided from that moment on, that he had found his forever home with me, and that I would dedicate myself to his rehabilitation and the tripod adventures that would follow.

With that commitment, follows medical bills, that I couldn't have prepared myself for. As I write this, Chewy is in the hospital awaiting his surgery and will recover for two days following. Thousands of dollars later, he will be home, one leg less, but still havin' a leg up on life!
