Support Tracey's Liver Transplant

Tracey's husband Rob shares his heart:

I’ll never forget the night when I had to call 911 for my wife, Tracey. It was in July of 2020 and we had gone to bed. Tracey woke me up at 1:00 in the morning, complaining of being cold. I tried to warm her up by holding her, but she continued to get colder and weaker. I told her we had to go to the emergency room and tried to get her up, but she couldn’t stand up straight and wasn’t making any sense. When they took her away on the stretcher, I felt so helpless. I couldn’t go to the hospital with her and was reduced to phone calls every hour to check on her condition. I had to tell my children that I didn’t know if Mom was okay. Fortunately, we got expert medical care and she pulled through.

Since then however, Tracey has continued to suffer from the same symptoms and we have had to make numerous trips to the emergency room along with countless costly visits to doctors and specialists. Tracey has non-alcoholic cirrhosis and needs a liver transplant. She never complains, but over the past couple of years, I have seen her become more and more tired and endure significant, daily pain. She can no longer work, so we are reliant on my income and a small amount that we get from social security. Our rent is 50% of our monthly income. In addition, we have two students in high school, so finances are extremely difficult for us at this point.

Thankfully, Tracey is on the list to receive a liver transplant. We don’t know the exact time that we will have the procedure, but we have been told that it will probably be close to the end of February or beginning of March, perhaps even sooner. What we know for certain is that as soon as we get the call, she and I will have six hours to get to University of Alabama for her life-saving operation. We will have to be gone for about a month, staying in a hotel that is more than two hours away from home. Meanwhile, family members and our church body will try to help our two children maintain some kind of a normal lifestyle back at home.

How can you pray?

  • Pray that Tracey maintains good health as she waits for the transplant to take place.
  • Pray for a successful and complication free surgery with full recovery.
  • Pray for Matthew and Rachael as there will be many disruptions to their normal routines.

How can you support financially?

It is necessary that we raise about $10,000 to cover medical bills, hotel costs and basic family expenses for both us and our children. This is not something we can manage on a teacher salary.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and support. Whatever you can do, we are very grateful to you! We love you guys and look forward to partnering with you!

Lamentations 3:21-25 But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.
