Road to World Para-Rowing Champs
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Curtis Halladay and I am a para-rower training towards my goal of representing Canada this summer at world cup II and world para-rowing championships. I have only been rowing for a year now and have had a great start to my rowing career thus far! A motocross accident in 2012 resulting in a dislocated and broken hip along with nerve damage leaving my left foot with no feeling or motor control threw a little twist on my everyday life, I'd say for the better. After a few years of rehab, I found rowing. Finally finding a sport that I can participate in gave me tremendous motivation to realize my potential. In this past year I won a silver medal at national championships in the LTA (legs, trunk, arms) double, I broke the LTA-PD and LTA overall 1000 meter world record at Canadian indoor championships, I then proceeded to win world indoor rowing championships (Crash-B's) with a personal best time and again a new world record.
The main reason for this campaign is to raise funds for re-location. Currently I am training in Sudbury Ontario at Laurentian University but I need to re-locate to Victoria BC to train at the national training center on Elk Lake. This campaign is extremely important to me because it will lift a big financial weight off of my shoulders and allow me to focus solely on training full time at the center. This summer we will be racing at World Rowing Cup II in Varese Italy and World Rowing Championships in Aiguebelette France in hopes of qualifying for the Paralympics.
As mentioned, the funds will be going towards re-locating to Victoria BC and international races this summer. Here is a list of what your contributions will help me with:
-Relocation travel expenses
-apartment rent
-Groceries
-travel expenses to and from training facilities
-expenses for international travel
By Contributing you will be helping me realize my goals of competing for Canada this summer at world rowing cup II and world para-rowing championships in hopes for Rio 2016. Please feel free to share on social media, it would help and be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your interest, I am grateful for your support.
