Donation protected
My son, Shane, was born with several birth defects. One of them being a significant hearing loss. He is almost deaf without a hearing aid. At 4, Shane was fitted with the standard wrap around hearing aid. He wore that device until his doctor told us about a new hearing device that would significantly in prove the sounds that he was missing, a Bone Anchored Hearing Aid (BAHA). This processor is surgically placed with a post sticking out of his skull in which the BAHA processor snaps on and off.
At the time, Shane was the youngest person to receive the surgery to get the BAHA. He was 8.
Shane hears the best with the BAHA. Wearing the BAHA , Shane hears the best he will ever hear.
Shane's current BAHA is on life support. The volume button doesn't work. The on/off switch doesn't work. He has to put tape on it in order to keep the battery in, and so on, and the sound is off.
Insurance only wants to pay a little over $1000 for a "replacement " processor. We need funds to cover the cost of the rest of the processor, fitting fees, audiology fees to "fine tune" the processor to his need and so on.
If our out of pocket funds aren't received soon, the money that insurance sent to the doctor (GA Ear) will unfortunately have to be returned.
Please contribute whatever you can. And amount will help so it's not all coming out of out pocket.
