Our lives changed in an instant while we were on vacation in Mexico. My wife, Cindy Rodriguez, was involved in a devastating Can-Am accident that crushed her hand in the most severe way imaginable.

The damage was catastrophic—every bone in her wrist and hand was dislocated, and she even lost a bone in her wrist. Seeing her like that is something I will never forget. She was rushed to a local ER in Mexico, where doctors tried to help, but told us her injuries were far too severe for them to treat.

We were faced with a terrifying decision and very little time. Family paid out of pocket for an emergency ambulance to the border before it closed. From there, she was airlifted by helicopter to Abrazo West Campus in Phoenix, where doctors immediately took her into an 8-hour emergency surgery.

By the grace of God and the incredible medical team, they were able to save her hand—but this is only the beginning.

Right now, Cindy cannot use her hand. She cannot move freely, eat, or even sleep without help. She is in constant pain and facing a long road to recovery that will include multiple surgeries, rehabilitation, and ongoing care.

I’m Joshua Rodriguez, her husband, and we have four children who depend on us. Right now, both of us are unable to work as I stay by her side and help care for her. We are currently in Phoenix, far from our home in California, trying to get through each day while she heals.

The emotional and financial stress has been overwhelming, and we are humbly asking for help during the hardest time of our lives.
