Joe, a 3 year Doodle was on his freedom ride to his new forever home when Fate did a bad tricksy on him. Joe managed to push out of his crate when he was being transferred to another vehicle on his volunteer transport train and go out. He ran into traffic and was hit by a car. After he was given clearance from the first ER vet, we had to take him back yesterday. They found fluid in his abdomen, tested it and found out he has a tear in his urinary tract that needs fixed. Without this surgery, Joe will die. Surgery is scheduled for Monday and he will probably be hospitalized for a few days following it.
Joe comes from the Mary Ann Morris Animal Shelter in Bamberg, SC, a very small, rural shelter that does the work of giants - adopting about 800 dogs a year on a very small budget. Dogs that come in starved, severely injured or sick and vetted , fed and loved until they are found new homes. Having such a huge, expensive emergency is a blow to our razor-thin budget.
This fundraiser will help Mary Ann Morris Animal Society, Inc. save Joe.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
