On the morning of July 24th my worst fears came true, Dash was not at the gate to come in for breakfast. I found him down at the bottom of the field in a full colic, after calling multiple vets that were all out in calls the decision was made to rush him to Equine Specialty Hospital. Within 20 minutes of arrival he was rushed into exploratory surgery where a strangulating lipoma was found constricting his lower intestine. Surgeons give him an 80% chance at a full recovery after a 5-7 day ICU stay. He will then need continued home care for 3 more months. His bills are already surpassing what his insurance covers for colic. Any donation is so very much appreciated, I absolutely love my horse and I couldn’t imagine losing him so suddenly. ❤️
UPDATE:
Dash made it through surgery, the next 24-48 hours are the most crucial. I’m so thankful for all the prayers and well wishes. His surgeon said at this point no news is good news. I’ll update again when I can! ❤️
