Feed the Animals

Donation protected
My name is Nicholas Jacinto. For the past 12 years I have been a licensed master animal handler, federally licensed under the USDA. In addition, I am also licensed in a dozen states to handle and exhibit exotic wildlife. I present educational wildlife shows for fairs, libraries, museums, schools, and many other venues. My animals are also routinely featured on TV.

I currently have 12 animals that rely solely on me for their care. They include an 18 pound flemish giant rabbit, african hedgehog, baby alligator, Honduran milksnake, sinaloan milksnake, Tawny owl, Eurasian Eagle Owl, Barbary falcon, Blue crown pigeon, a keel bill toucan, and a pair of red foot tortoises.

I rely solely on income generated from my live shows to cover the cost of food. However, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, all of my scheduled shows for 2020 have been cancelled. The diets for my animals consist of frozen mice/chicks, dry feed formulas, and fresh produce. Many of the dry feeds are expensive and purchased through a zoological animal food supplier. I currently have enough food for six weeks but I fear what will happen after that time. Complicating the situation is that in 2017 (In an effort to give my animals a better quality of life during the winter months) I opened a second housing facility in Florida (my main facility is in Long Island NY)  which effectively doubled my business overhead costs. If this were any other time I could temporarily ship some animals to zoos but they are all in the same situation and are not accepting new animals at this time. I understand that this is a difficult time for everybody and understand if you cant contribute but would be extremely appreciative to anyone who can. The cost to feed my animals is $500 a month. If I can set aside enough money to make it 10 months I think my animals and I will be ok. My estimate is that it will be at least that long before I start getting bookings again through live shows. The stress from the situation is keeping me up at night and distracting me from helping my wife raise our one year-old daughter. If I can take care of this it would take one thing off my plate of worry.  Thank you so much for your time, even $5 would help. God bless and please stay safe.
