Tyler's Cancer fund
In February 2021, we got news that no parent wishes to receive. Our son Tyler was taken to the hospital for weakness and chest pain. Upon inspection he was found to have over 25 "masses" in his chest.
Once a biopsy was done Tyler was diagnosed with Metastatic Testicular Cancer that had spread to his lungs. Then started the long and tedious road of chemotherapy. Tyler received 41 high dosage chemo treatments over the next 4 months.
In mid June we were told all his cancer markers had dropped dramatically and were almost none existent. Hope was in sight for the first time. After a few new sets of blood work we came to a terrible conclusion. His numbers were going back up at an exponential rate. We didn't get it all.
The next step was for him to receive a Stem Cell Transplant to eradicate the cancer. Tyler's insurance was causing delays from this happening so financing was looking like the only option (about $150,000).
Now it brings us to Aug 2, 2021. Tyler was at work and he had a seizure (first time ever). He was rushed to the hospital. It was here that he had another seizure that they couldn't stop. He was sedated and intubated. It was here that our worse fears had been realized. Tyler's cancer had moved into the right frontal lobe of his brain.
Then on Aug 6th, 2021 he underwent a Craniotomy to remove a 3/4 inch hemorrhaging mass. Surgery was a success. After Tyler woke from surgery he had the inability to use most of the left side of his body as well as mildly decreased cognitive function ( slower processing). He is now home and attending rehab trying to get his strength back.
The Stem Cell Transplant as well as radiation are the best chance he has to kick this thing. Once he recovers from surgery that is the next step.
The physical, mental, and financial strain has been great on him as well as his family taking care of him. The punches just keep coming. Any assistance that can be offered will be greatly appreciated.
