An unexpected 24 week delivery while on vacation has turned into a struggle no one could even imagine.
Baby Lucy is a fighter but continues to have new struggles to fight through.
More than 9 months later and she's still in the hospital. She's been intubated the whole time. Her lungs have a far way to go. She's been fighting swelling (lymphatic malformation). Meds she takes suppress her immune system.
She's come a long way but still has a long way to go. Her parents have to go through weeks of training in order to learn how to take care of her when she finally gets to come home.
Mom has left her job in order to be ready to be there for Lucy whenever she needs her, along with still being able to be with her other kids as much as possible. Visiting Lucy everyday is an hour drive there and an hour drive back.
They are hoping Lucy can come home by Christmas but this is not something truly predictable.
Once Lucy comes home she will need 24 hour care (a night nurse will be necessary as dad works nights and mom isn't superhuman). They will even need a new vehicle with a 3rd row because a parent will have to ride in the back with Lucy since she will be on ventilator.
Their fight is not over and they can use all the help they can get. They've had a lot of help and have a lot of gratitude and yet they still need any help they can get.
We will post updates. Thank you for anything you can help with. The gratitude they feel is overwhelming through it all. We have hope. #LifelineForLucy
