Wesley's Munch Soup Kitchen

In June 2022, while in Kenya visiting Le Cheile Africa, 'Wesley's Munch Soup Kitchen' was launched in memory of our best friend Wesley Carey (R. I. P).

On returning home, myself (Tadhg Mc Mahon) & Shane Crowley decided to set up a Go Fund Me to cover the enormous cost of 1500 meals a week. The Soup Kitchen operates 3 days a week in Solai.

In November 2023 myself, Bernadette Mc Mahon (Bob), John Mulcahy, Eoghan Mulcahy and Finbarr Jewitt are going to Kenya to hopefully help in the build of a permanent building to house the Soup Kitchen and other amenities as currently the food is being cooked outdoors in all kinds of weather.

The cost of the building will be in the region of €6,000. It is also vital that we keep feeding 1500 of the most disadvantaged people every week.

We realise that it is a huge ask of people to continue helping and to also support us in this ongoing project.

The support we have been given so far has been nothing short of unbelievable. I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank everyone who has donated and supported us along the way. You are the difference between life and death for this community.

UPDATE: November 2023 Trip:

Myself (Tadhg Mc Mahon), @Ber Mc Mahon Bob, @John Mulcahy, @Eoghan Mulcahy, @Finbarr Jewitt, @William Carey, @Fiona Milligan & @Lottie Nowne travelled to Solai, Kenya to officially open the permanent building of Wesley's Munch Soup Kitchen & Daves Diner in memory of @Wesley Carey & @David Johnson.

It was an emotional journey and very rewarding trip seeing all the projects that @Derry Desmond, @Mary Kigo and all @Le Cheile Africa have set up.

While there the clean drinking water project (phase one) was completed.

Each project depends completely on donations. Your continued support is invaluable.

As a group we could see first hand the amount of hard work and dedication that Mary, Derry and the wider community put in every single day. We would also like to thank @Nicholas Kiptigen(Chief) whose help and guidance is invaluable.
