My Name is Sarah and I am starting this go fund me for my father who was in a tragic accident on Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve morning at approximately 7:45 am I received a call about my father being in a bad accident. He survived a car accident that most wouldn’t. His condition was so bad that they had to keep him on a ventilator and sedated for 2 weeks due to his lungs not being strong enough for him to breathe on his own from collapsing. On average it costs about $25,000/day to keep someone on the vent. He was on it for 13 days and insurance is not covering all of the costs for his medical bills. He broke his Leg, Pelvis, and 17 ribs. He was in the critical care unit for 13 days and when they finally took him off ventilator, he was transferred to the trauma recovery unit for the remained of his stay. He spent a total of 23 days in the hospital until they were able to remove his chest tubes and he was strong enough to go home. My step mom had to quit her job to take care of my father full time since he is unable to care for himself while in recovery so that he would not have to go to a long term rehab facility. He has to be in a wheel chair for about 2-3 months due to his pelvis and leg recovery. He is waiting to file for short term disability and can not work due to his condition still so he has no income. We are not the type of people to ever ask for help but everyone needs help now and then and I would not be asking for help if it was not an urgent matter. We are just asking for enough to cover his medical expenses and house bills until he can receive short term disability. He has bills piling up and has to pay for everything out of pocket with no income. He has a very long road to recovery and will be out of work for a while with many doctors appointments ahead of him. My father is one of the most strong and independent people I have ever met and he is still fighting a hard fight. While his health has improved greatly from Christmas Eve, recovery is so difficult still. My family would appreciate anything at all that you are able to give to help assist for medical bills and other bills. If you are unable to help, we would greatly appreciate you share this in hopes that we can reach more people who may be able to help ❤️ We are all assisting the most we can but us doing it alone is not enough.
