Holly's Battle

Dear Family and Friends,

“…And when adversity comes knocking at the door, the best anyone can do is to have faith..."

Life often has a way of setting challenges in our path; moments that take your breath away, humble and bring one to their knees. Somehow, life seems to touch each and every one of us in ways we never anticipated. My family is no exception to this rule.  Our world stopped.  The grim prognosis from the doctor says that my mom has a serious cancer.

In September of this year, my mom, Holly Schimpf, discovered a lump in her breast.  By mid-October, the doctors are in a huge hurry to stop its rapid growth.  The medical term is grade three (highest grade) aggressive.  It's a triple negative tumor, meaning it is most likely to spread and quickly. With many of the medical results still pending, my mom’s cancer diagnosis is at least stage two.  Although it is possible that it has been present for about two months, it is already the size of an egg. Time is of the essence.

Holly Schimpf is a wonderful mother and devoted grandmother. She loves her family, dogs, horses…life.  Active and otherwise healthy at age 67, she is thrilled that she has been able to be the main childcare for all of her grandchildren for the last ten years; an inter-generational bond that has been forged with each of her five grandchildren. Having already battled endometrial cancer just two short years ago, a strict conventional treatment is not going to work for her.  The treatment that my mom needs is not covered by any health insurance available; yet there is hope.  The Integrative Medical Facility  is in Reno, NV.  The first amount of $30,000 is due by early November.  The rest will be due in stages throughout the next four to six months.

My mother is fighting for her life. She is not only my mother, and my father's wife of 38 years, she is the very special and beloved grandmother of my three children as well as my sister's two children.  We are not accustomed to asking for financial help, however with our mother's life on the line and time looking so shockingly short, prayers and financial support would be deeply appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my mom’s story.  If you are unable to donate at this time, please share this story because time is short and her life is in the balance.  Even if you cannot help with the looming medical bill, the Lord hears your prayers.  Please pray for complete healing. These sacrifices are humbly appreciated.

Love,
Jen
