On Thursday, September 8, 2022, our father, husband, brother and friend, Michael Negussie, drowned due to a rip current while on vacation in Daytona Beach, Florida, and suffered traumatic brain damage.

Michael is a caring, selfless and highly respected man in the community. He is known for his authenticity, sense of humor and family values. He was a very healthy and active man who enjoyed hiking, soccer and traveling. Michael is the pillar and backbone of the family, and his medical condition has left a deep void for us all. Having just bid goodbye to his mother, Michael took a day trip with his wife to the beach to recoup before the tragic incident that has the whole family distraught.

He has been in the ICU on life support in Daytona Beach, Florida, where the incident occurred. The family is asking for help covering medical expenses and transportation costs to bring him back home to the Washington D.C. area and seek specialized treatment.
