Help me buy a new wheelchair

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Beth and I'm fundraising for a new wheelchair.

In April 2023, I suddenly lost movement and sensation in my legs, becoming paralysed from the waist down. I'm now a full-time wheelchair user.

I fought for a wheelchair from NHS Wales Wheelchair Services and was eventually given a heavy NHS wheelchair after a long wait. Unfortunately it is not fit for purpose and cannot give me the freedom or independence I crave. I knew it wouldn't enable me to be as active, sporty and outdoorsy as I wanted to be and was causing damage to my back and shoulders. I also knew if I wanted to drive again I'd need a lighter wheelchair as I cannot lift this one. Unfortunately, the need for the new chair has become urgent. My NHS chair is now broken and Wheelchair Services are showing no intention of fixing it.

My freedom and independence is being greatly restricted; I'm unable to leave the house alone as I struggle to lift and move the chair and the chair is causing high levels of daily pain and fatigue.

I've been quoted £9354 for a new ultra lightweight wheelchair and cushion made to my measurements and with proper support for my back that I'd be able to lift. The new wheelchair would help me to push the limits placed on my freedom to hopefully live a life closer to that of many other people in their twenties.

I really hate asking for donations and I wish I didn't have to. We all wish we lived in a society where Disabled people are given the equipment they need to have the best quality of life, but unfortunately that is not the case. I'd be so so grateful for any size of donation.
