Friends of Harkins House Holiday Fundraiser
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family,
We're asking you once again to help us fill these stockings for the Harkins House youth in shelter over the holidays. Unlike years past, these kids will not be allowed time out of the facility with their families and will spend the entirety of this holiday season in the program. While our staff do their best to keep spirits bright, we want to stuff these stockings with a little extra comfort and joy this year. This has been a hard year for many in our community and in our effort to support our local restaurants and breweries we are not asking for donations from them, so we are relying on direct individual donations. If you are in a position to donate this year, any amount will help to bring a smile to the faces of the boys and girls in Harkins House.
A brief description of Harkins House is included below for those who are new to this cause. For our repeat supporters (we love and appreciate you so very much), feel free to skip on down to the "Donate Now" button!
When I began working at Harkins House in 1996 as an undergraduate social work intern it didn't take long for me to realize that my heart was working with at risk youth in my community, specifically in Harkins House. Nearly 24 years later I am still working for this program and cannot imagine working anywhere else. This program is truly unique and so are the staff that serve these youth and families. Harkins House is a short-term shelter care facility for at risk youth between the ages of twelve to seventeen. The program provides a safe environment for Washington County youth whose homes are no longer a resource. Since opening in 1977, Harkins House has served several thousand youth in our community, giving them an alternative to remaining in detention. Individualized care is provided to each youth including a comprehensive evaluation, counseling and mental health services, an educational program and positive recreational activities. Harkins House is a safe, structured program dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to the youth and families it serves.
Friends and family are always asking what they can do to support these young people and the answer is simple...DONATE. Your donation will impact a youth in need in a very positive way!
An annual Friends of Harkins House Holiday Fundraiser helps support the youth in the facility over the holiday season. We seek donations to help provide stockings filled with supplies and goodies for the youth to utilize all year long. Donations of supplies or cash to purchase items such as sporting equipment, art supplies, backpacks, coats and shoes are greatly appreciated. Additionally, excess funds will be used to purchase items for the facility to benefit all youth we serve over the coming year.
All donations are tax deductible and very deeply appreciated.
Happy Holidays,
Carrie Stutzman
