Caring for Cara

Hi, I'm Amber and this GoFundMe is to raise money for my niece and her family, the McArthurs, who, for the last four years, have been doing everything in their power to get 5 year old Cara, healthy and living the care-free life every parent wants for their child.

A little backstory for those of you who are new to this journey: In 2019, Cara was diagnosed with optic pathway gliomas. She has spent the last 4 years doing chemotherapy treatments with little success. She has vision loss in both eyes and has recently been struggling with weight loss and fatigue. In June 2023, she had a shunt placed for hydrocephalus. She has also had progression with her tumors, which is now effecting her speech, vision and balance. Cara is currently at the hospital in Rochester, MN. The struggle to find a treatment that will work for her is still ongoing. She is currently preparing for a clinical trial which will hopefully show good results.

As trips to the hospital become more frequent with a medical trial on the horizon; work absences are abundant and funds for medical expenses and life with cancer are needed.
