We are reaching out to you today with a heartfelt plea for help on behalf of our dear friend and colleague, Hannah Smith, a remarkable 25-year-old Internal Medicine resident who is slated to be our Chief Resident next year. Hannah's journey through medicine has been nothing short of inspiring, marked by her dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment to her patients. However, Hannah's path has recently been obstructed by an unexpected and challenging adversary: a severe rheumatologic condition.

Diagnosed during her intern year, Hannah has faced overwhelming complications that have necessitated her to be intubated on life support three times, undergo multiple surgical procedures, and led to numerous hospitalizations. Despite her unwavering determination to continue her residency, these medical battles have caused her to miss many weeks of training and accrue staggering medical bills that have become insurmountable. Insurance is not covering her hospitalizations and she still has ongoing expenses that include navigating her new feeding tube. Labs alone are costing her over $22,000.

Hannah's journey is a testament to the strength and resilience of those in the medical profession. Even as she battles her condition, her dedication to becoming an exceptional physician remains unwavering. She has shown incredible strength and perseverance, qualities that we know will make her an outstanding Chief Resident. Now, more than ever, Hannah needs our help.
