While trying to explain occurrences, it is often said that “sometimes things happen for a reason.” This may be the case for my beautiful sister-in-law, Amanda Bowers, while in her journey through her hard fought for second pregnancy. At 28 weeks pregnant she was unexpectedly diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and has been ordered to remain in the hospital until delivery.
Immediately preceding this diagnosis, the family was hit with the all too oft discussed Covid-19 virus. While her husband, Andrew, and their 3-year-old son were quick to recover, the expecting mother endured a more severe bout with the virus. Her worsening symptoms, coupled with a fear caused by not feeling the movement of their second baby for an extended period, prompted her to visit the local emergency room. While performing tests to ensure mother and baby were safe, an additional complication was discovered, one that the family, like most in this circumstance, are never fully prepared for.
Amanda being in the hospital with the only determining factor for her discharge being delivery, my brother, Andrew, has been forced to re-evaluate their financial position and plans for what is now undoubtedly going to be a much greater burden than originally expected. For a family who has always lived humble and within their means, the loss of one income for any unforeseen and extended period can be exceedingly detrimental. Couple that with a high out-of-pocket cost for what could be a minimum 7-week stay in the hospital, and you have a situation that the average American family fears for when it comes to their financial security.
In order to help alleviate some of the financial stress on the family, I have set up this fundraiser to help raise the money necessary to pay for the loss of one income and the substantial burden of unplanned medical bills, as well as the costs of living (mortgage, day-care, utilities, food). If you feel called to help out my brother’s family during his time of great need, please feel free to donate, share this fundraiser, or just simply say a prayer. I know they greatly appreciate all your prayers.
We strongly believe that God will provide as He always does. We know His plan is greater than ours.
