Help keep our rescue rolling!
For the Love of Ferals cat rescue needs to purchase a gently used, reliable rescue vehicle so we can keep helping kittens and cats in need! Our goal is to raise $20,000 for this purchase. Two anonymous supporters have generously offered to contribute $2500 to match donations, so your donation will go twice as far! All donations, no matter the size, are gratefully accepted and much appreciated ❤️
Who are we?
For the Love of Ferals is a solely volunteer-run, foster based private cat rescue serving eastern Ontario, which focuses on trap-neuter-return (TNR) programs for feral/community cats and helps huge numbers of stray cats and kittens in need. 486 cats were helped in 2022 alone!
Why do we need a car now?
The work of the rescue covers a very large geographic area, from Trenton in the west to Cornwall in the east, and north to Highway 7 and beyond. This work requires over 75,000 kms of travel each year by the rescue’s founder and full-time volunteer. Over the past 6 years, she has put more than 400,000 kms on her personal vehicle, rescuing 2500 cats during this time, and has paid for all gas, maintenance, and repairs out of her own pocket. This year alone, repairs have topped $5000 and the odometer now sits at 500,000 kms. This vehicle is no longer reliable.
Without a reliable vehicle there is no rescue.
It’s time to purchase a vehicle for this desperately needed rescue work.
What is the rescue vehicle used for?
A reliable vehicle is required for:
- Checking out new colonies and responding to requests for help
- Trapping missions
- Vet appointments
- Deliveries to foster homes
- Transport to spay neuter clinics
- Transport to partner rescues
- Transport to out-of-town vet specialists
- Transport to colonies (food and supply deliveries)
How we fund our rescue work:
Rescue costs of vet bills, kitten/cat food, and trapping and foster home supplies are covered through small donations and regular fundraising efforts, and are used for cat care expenses only. Funds raised as part of this project will help specifically with the purchase of our rescue vehicle.
