Our Mom, Barbara, or as we like to call her “MamaBear”, is the most selfless and happiest woman you could ever meet- especially when she has chocolate or coffee in her hands. She was always the person who never got sick, not even a small cold. Unfortunately, that all changed on December 27th, 2015 when she experienced a brain aneurysm after the South Dakota State University basketball game I was dancing at. Right after the game she randomly got a massive headache and could hardly walk or stand, luckily my brother was there as well. We got the ambulance for her and got her to the emergency room as fast as we could. From there, she was admitted into the ICU and a drainage tube was put into the top right of her skull, to relieve the fluid and pressure, until they were able to find out the cause of her symptoms. With my brother and I crying and leaning on one another for support we also found strength through prayer, knowing God would take care of her. Eventually, our Dad and Priest drove an hour to get to the hospital with us. The doctors then said they found a small aneurysm in her brain and they needed to operate as soon as possible, but there were risks such as causing her to have a stroke or making her condition worse. As we all agreed she needed the surgery, she was rushed away, and we waited for five hours and just prayed and clung to one another. We finally got the call that she was out of surgery and we met with her neurosurgeon as fast as possible. He said the magic words “She did great”! This was a huge relief! We learned she handled the surgery like a champ and that she was still able to communicate, move, and still had her memory. Thank the Lord! We all cried tears of joy because we had no idea what we would do without her. She is still in the ICU as of now, but every day she has a positive attitude, stays strong in her faith, and has already accomplished so much. Currently, my brother just graduated college and I will in May. Him and I are responsible not only for our own expenses, but now also for hers. We adore our Mom and we do not want her to have to worry about financials, so any donation we can get will be of huge appreciation! With your generous donations we will pay her rent, living expenses, and most importantly her medical bills. We appreciate love and prayers as well! Thank you for the support of our MamaBear and family during this difficult time. It means the world to all of us. God Bless!
