Donate to Help Secure Reliable Transportation

A week ago, I was offered a great job in Denver, CO. With strict time constraints, I was asked to pack up my life and be willing to start the job within a week of the offer. I took the offer, frantically packed up, and hit the road on Sunday, July 6th, bright and early.

Three hours into the trip, my beloved Nissan Juke started to drive extremely funny. And unfortunately, not the good kind of funny. As I would go up small inclines, I felt my engine jolting and jerking. I let maybe 15-20 minutes pass of my car slowly starting to slip before the godforsaken Check Engine Light came on. It was in that moment I knew I had to pull over at the next exit.

My Juke had shown exactly zero signs of this becoming a problem before I left for the trip. If I had known something was seriously wrong with my car, I wouldn’t have taken the job offer.

But with all things, even cars, death is very real.

I spent the night in a small Kansas town, and my parents luckily were able to arrive the next day to tow my car back towards KC. We dropped it off at the mechanic's, and as two days passed, we grew more worried about the bad news we knew was coming.

My transmission is gone. $8,000 repair. You all know the deal. For that cost, it makes more sense to go ahead and retire my ole’ Juke and put a deposit down on something else.

I am crushed, to say the least, not only to lose this wonderful car I’ve owned since I was 18 (it was about time to retire his life anyway) but also because I am no longer in a position to take the job I was offered.

So anyway, I don’t spend much time online and don’t know how to easily ask for support, but without a car, working in a city such as Kansas City becomes extremely difficult, not impossible, but difficult. The city sprawl here is outrageous, and trying to land a promising, well-paying position typically means needing reliable transportation. And as I don’t live in downtown proper, it becomes an even bigger challenge since the bus lines don’t cover the areas around and in which I live.

All I am really looking for is hopefully a small amount of support to either help me towards a down payment on a new (used) car, or at least some funds to float me while I work through this life transition.

I had heavily depended on gig work the last couple of years as a main source of my income while I grew my photography business I’ve been working on. So I am at this current moment without the work I typically do, and without a car.

Working towards change as I know brighter days will come. Staying focused and staying patient. I know the Universe is sending me on the path I should be on, even if it feels like a wild rollercoaster of emotions and finances right now.

Thank you to anyone who feels they can donate. And please message me with any questions or just to reconnect. I miss being online sometimes and I sure miss my friends. ✨

p.s. if anyone wants to hire me for photo shoots or video projects, let me know of that too! :)

funds will be used strictly for purchasing a new/used car! or floating my life till I find a new job
