Hi, my name is Alex, and I have the privilege of working alongside Kate—and also calling her my friend. I’m organizing this fundraiser because she’s someone who constantly shows up for others with strength, compassion, and grace, and now it’s our turn to show up for her.
In April, Kate experienced ruptured ovarian cysts that caused internal bleeding and led to an emergency laparoscopic surgery. Just over two weeks ago, she underwent an open abdominal myomectomy, which she’s still recovering from. Because of a prior history of blood clots in her lungs and legs, she’s now on long-term anticoagulation therapy for the next 6–12 months, which adds to both her medical complexity and financial burden.
Kate was scheduled to begin a new job in May, following a major layoff that also left her without medical insurance. Unfortunately, due to the unexpected surgeries and the need for an extended recovery, her start date has been pushed back to July 14. In the meantime, she’s facing mounting medical bills, daily living expenses, and ongoing care—all without a steady income. Living alone and with her family and closest support system abroad, this already challenging season has become even more overwhelming and isolating.
This fundraiser will help cover:
-Medical bills and prescriptions
-Rent and utilities
-Groceries and essentials
-Transportation to appointments
-Food and meal support during recovery
Kate has always been someone who carries herself with resilience and humility. (Had to think about letting me help her) Right now, she needs community. If you're able to donate, any amount helps. And if not, your prayers, messages of encouragement, or sharing this link are deeply appreciated. I will be organizing a meal train and if you are able to help with that it would be a blessing.
Let’s show Kate that she’s not alone in this. Thank you for your love and support. ❤️
