Help David Get Back On His Feet

Hello all. You know me by many different names. To most of you, I'm David, but I also go by ACogInTheWheel on Instagram and YouTube, and Techno Viking at my favorite watering hole.

I have a passion for motorcycles and traveling. As many of you know, I have a 1993 Honda Goldwing aka Casper, that I have owned and worked on over the last couple of years. It has taken me on many trips so far. Quite a few have been to Florida to support a charity called Forgotten Angels. Forgotten Angels supports kids that have aged out of the foster care system by giving them somewhere to live and help grow as individuals. Through this charity I have met amazing people and now have what I call my "Florida family". I recently left Dallas on another trip to Florida to see my family and support the charity. I have been going out there every six months since November 2021 for a campout. Unfortunately, this year, I was less than a quarter mile from the entrance to the property when a dog came at me from the side and ran into the front wheel of my motorcycle. This caused me to wreck my motorcycle and I am now in the hospital. I have 7 broken ribs, a partially collapsed left lung, a fractured left tibial plateau, a fractured scaphoid in my right wrist, and a large hematoma on my left hip. The doctors have told me that I am not allowed to put weight on my left leg for 6 weeks while it is in a brace. They also said that upon my discharge from the hospital, I will go into an inpatient rehab facility here in Tampa for at least 2 weeks. I will be out of work indefinitely as my body heals. As a lot of you know, I work at a motorcycle dealership and my job is very dependent upon me being able to ride motorcycles and walk around. I will be out of work for at least a couple of weeks if not more, not to mention having to fly home, ship my motorcycle home, and then attempting to fix it. That motorcycle is incredibly special to me and finding parts for a 30 year old bike will be a challenge, to say the least. That color combo was only available in 1993 on the Special Edition.
