Family of 4 homeless

Hi, my name is Erika and my family could really use a miracle this Christmas. This year has been a roller coaster of unfortunate events and circumstances that has resulted in our family now being homeless since December 4th. Anyone who knows me personally, can tell you I have one of the biggest hearts out there and am always willing to help anyone out of the kindness of my heart never asking for anything in return, however now I am the one asking for help as my last resort in helping my family! This last year my husband suffered from a mental illness that left him feeling powerless and unable to cope with normal day to day life. Due to this we suffered financially and unfortunately fell behind with rent, the landlords in turn disconnected our hydro from June to October against the warning from the Rental Housing Enforcement Unit to teach us a lesson. This in turn made our financial situation even more dire because of the extra money we spent on food because of not being able to cook , batteries to power lighting and laundry expenses etc. Our landlord filed for our eviction and because of clerical errors that were made we were not notified of any hearing or made aware of our options… until a sheriff arrived at the door in the early morning of December 4th and gave our family 5 mins to get whatever we could and leave the property, this event has left my kids traumatized by the way it was handled. A couple hours later our landlords reached out to us with the offer of trying to come to an agreement to take back possession of the home. We met with one of the landlords a couple of days later and came to an agreement that was recorded on video .. we gave the landlords $3000 cash and the promise to meet the next day with the remaining amount so we could move back in. Since then we have been strung along and they refuse to honour the agreement and keep pushing for more money. We have exhausted any resources we can and don’t know where else to turn. My family is losing hope by the day and all of our mental health is being affected more and more each day that passes. Our only wish this Christmas is to be together as a family in the house where all our furniture and belongings are being kept without us being able to access.
