Help our family return home (Ayudanos a regresar a casa)

Hi, my name is Barbara and this is my family: my husband Marcelo and our little son Julian, 19 months old. We are Chilean (our son was born in Australia), and we have lived here in Tasmania for the last 3 and a half years. We both have student visas since we came here because I entered a PhD program. The last two years have been very difficult for us as a family. My father passed away in Chile, and I went through a series of mental health issues (depression). Furthermore, our financial situation was severely affected by the arrival of our baby (we both have student visas, and because we're migrants, we can't afford daycare, so we're currently living solely on my PhD scholarship). Because of this, our stay here in Tasmania has become extremely difficult to sustain.

Also, due to medical reasons for our youngest son, we need to return as soon as possible to Chile (he was recently admitted to the Royal Hobart Hospital for respiratory problems, and here in Australia, we unfortunately cannot afford medical treatment). So, as a family, we can no longer afford to stay in Australia.

Due to our difficult financial situation, we need your help raising $8,000.00 (AUD) to purchase plane tickets to return home. Due to multiple medical expenses for our son, we don't have that money, and for visa and legal reasons, we must leave Australia by October 01, 2025.

This is why, as a family, we have decided to ask our families, friends, colleagues, and the community for help in raising the money we so urgently need. All proceeds will be used to purchase plane tickets to Chile.
