Help Junior with Medical Bills
Donation protected
Macario “Junior” was driving home to his family after work at The Lighthouse on Hwy 71 around midnight on 3/8 when a driver crossed onto his side of the road. Despite his best efforts he was unable to avoid the oncoming vehicle and was hit head on. The airbags did not deploy and his vehicle was crushed with him inside. The heroic efforts of the first responders including Pedernales Fire Department and Star flight saved his life. He sustained damage to his spine, broken ribs, crushed hip, internal bleeding, bruised heart, split tongue and much more. He has been in hospital since and has undergone several surgeries. After 2 weeks of being kept mostly sedated he is now conscious and able to move a little though he still has a trach and movement is very painful. His wife has been by his side this whole time and unable to work. They also have children and have to find a path forward as well as facing massive medical bills.
Junior has worked with and for Robin (the owner of the Lighthouse) for many years, and he’s been a driving force in our kitchen since The Lighthouse opened 6 years ago. Working 50-60 hours a week to create a lot of the food that so many people have enjoyed. If you’ve ever sat on our patio and enjoyed a great meal, there’s an excellent chance Junior cooked it. We created this go fund me to help the family with these expenses and are also doing a fundraiser on April 14th (50% of the days sales will go to Junior) and a silent auction here: https://web.bidbeacon.com/share/auction.php?code=HCQSLY The most important thing is that Junior is still with us, but now we have to help him get back on his feet.
