Ethan Christie's Road to Recovery

On December 23, 2021, Ethan was involved in a serious snowmobile accident in Sanford, MB. He sustained severe head trauma, a fractured pelvis (front and back), and a deep laceration to the trachea. After being transported to HSC, Ethan underwent a successful emergency surgery to repair the damage to the trachea. On Christmas day, he then underwent an emergency right side Hemicraniectomy to reduce the swelling on his brain. Since this last ditch effort, Ethan has been making strides each day but remains in a medically induced coma, fighting for his life. Ethan and his family have a long road ahead of them and will need all the love and support they can get. Doctors are unsure of when Ethan will wake and say it could take days, weeks, months, or even years. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 restrictions, only one parent is allowed to visit each day but the family was given a Christmas wish to see Ethan all together as a family on December 25th. Ethan's mother (Michelle), father (Duncan), older brother (Zack) and younger sister (Kylee) continue to be such an amazing support system. We are asking for your help to ease the financial stress that will come with Ethan's road to recovery. The funds raised will go towards Ethan's rehabilitation and for any other accommodations that will need to be put into place to help Ethan. 

 

The Christie's are a wonderful family and have been an important part of the Headingley community for nearly two decades. You may have seen them driving the big purple Dodge trucks or doing snow removal around the community. Let's give back to this family and show them some support!

 

If you are unable to financially donate, the family has asked that you please consider becoming a blood donor as Ethan has had at least 3 blood transfusions in the last 5 days. They also ask that you please light a candle for Ethan.

Additional Information: My name is Emily McDonald and I am the niece of Michelle and Duncan Christie, and Ethan Christie's cousin. I am also from Winnipeg. The funds raised for Ethan will not be withdrawn by me, but will instead be withdrawn directly into an account managed by the Christie Family.
