I am creating this GoFundMe for my mother, Meera Sharma, who is facing the most frightening and difficult chapter of her life.

She has been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer, which has spread to her liver and surrounding areas. What began as severe stomach pain quickly turned into urgent scans, hospital visits, and a diagnosis that changed our lives overnight.

Over the past weeks, her health declined rapidly. She became extremely weak, struggled to eat, and lived with constant discomfort and pain. Everything moved fast—too fast—and suddenly we were forced to make life-altering decisions under immense emotional and financial pressure.

Her Treatment Journey So Far

Since her diagnosis, Mum has undergone four rounds of chemotherapy. While we held onto hope, the treatment took a heavy toll on her body. After the third cycle, her condition worsened significantly. She required more than five emergency visits and was admitted to hospital for five days as doctors worked to stabilise her.

Despite this, she pushed forward.

After the fourth chemotherapy session, we met with her oncology and surgical teams and completed multiple tests and scans to reassess her condition and determine the next critical step.

Doctors advised the surgey would be a long and complex operation, expected to take 7–8 hours, involving multiple procedures:

Robotic right hemicolectomy

Liver metastasectomy (segments 4 and 6)

Radiofrequency ablation (RFA)

This surgery is a crucial turning point in her treatment. It is difficult and high-risk—but it offers her the best possible chance to keep fighting.

Why We Need Help

The specialised treatment Mum urgently needs is not available at our local hospital, so we were forced to move her to another city. She does not have medical insurance, and by the time she tried to apply, she was no longer eligible due to her age. Every part of her care must be paid for out of pocket.

Between chemotherapy, surgery, hospital stays, medications, scans, travel, and accommodation, the financial burden on our family has been overwhelming.

How the Funds Will Be Used

Funds raised through this campaign will go toward:

Chemotherapy, surgery, and hospital care

Medications, follow-up scans, and recovery treatment

Travel and accommodation required for treatment away from home

Essential living expenses during her care

Any urgent or unforeseen medical needs

The majority of the funds will be used directly for Mum’s medical treatment, including chemotherapy, surgery, medications, and essential care. Any remaining support will help cover travel, accommodation, and urgent needs during this incredibly difficult period.

My mum is a loving, gentle, and selfless person who has always put others before herself. She has spent her life caring for family, offering kindness quietly, and never asking for much in return.
