Justin's Recovery

On Friday September 3, 2021 Justin was diagnosed with Covid-19, was hospitalized, placed on a ventilator, and eventually transferred to OHSU where he remains receiving ECMO. While receiving treatment gives him the best chance at waking up, it could be up to 2 months before that happens. It has been a hard fought battle for Justin, and will remain so long after he comes out of sedation. He will have a lengthy, difficult, recovery when he comes home and will be out of work for an unforeseeable amount of time. He will need support and it will leave his new wife, Darian, unable to work while caring for him as well. While we know Justin to be incredibly tenacious, and trust that he will come back stronger, we would also like to minimize the residual effects this has on his family. His wife was just approved to visit him, so there will be expenses for travel, lodging, and food, in addition to all of their regular expenses. This is heavy for a family that has been affected by the shutdowns from COVID multiple times throughout the last year. Justin is a gift in our world, he is thoughtful, giving, funny, and makes the lives of those who know him better. If you are able to donate the funds would go directly towards helping carry his family while he heals.
