Maya

Our beautiful friend Maya has had a really challenging month, to say the least. On May 15th a tornado touched down in Westchester County (https://www.lohud.com/story/weather/2018/05/16/2-tornadoes-hit-putnam-county/616453002/) A massive Maple tree crashed through the home Maya and her family were living in. She sheltered her baby Leo in the bathtub until the storm passed. Luckily her husband had just left the house to go pick up their son Max from daycare. The tree landed on Craig's office and had he not left the house he would have definitely been killed. Maya and her family relocated to a small cabin where they began to rebuild some sense of normalcy; until last week. Maya has been feeling dizzy and seeing floating lights in her eyes. Years ago she was diagnosed with vertigo and was just assigning these symptoms to that and stress. When the symptoms got too severe to ignore she went to her doctor who ordered an MRI. On the MRI they found a brain tumor. Thank God the doctors are confident it is benign (meningioma), but she will still need to have a very serious brain surgery in the next few weeks. Her and her husband have insurance, but Maya is a stay at home mom. Her biggest concern is how her and Craig will pay for childcare for the baby during the time that she needs to recover. The doctors tell her that could take up to three months. Full time daycare, monthly, for her little one would be an additional $700 a month. We are trying to raise  enough money for the additional child care for three months. Our hope is that she will go into the operation and her recovery worrying about nothing, but getting better. Anything at all that you can contribute would be so greatly appreciated.
