On August 9, my brother’s life changed in an instant. He was in a serious car accident that left him with a fractured spinal cord and severe injuries to his lungs. Right now, he’s unable to feel his body from the belly down and is on a ventilator to help him breathe.

The road ahead will be long and challenging. He will need surgery and an extended stay in a rehabilitation facility. Because this accident did not happen at work, he may lose his job-based health insurance, leaving him with significant medical and living expenses during recovery.
