Lukas Ellenbolt's PA MOJA trip
Donation protected
My name is Lukas Ellenbolt and I am an 11th grade student at East High School in Madison. I, along with 10 other East students, have been accepted to participate in East High School's PA MOJA project. The goal of this project is to help young adults, like myself, gain important leadership skills and become more globally minded.
The PA MOJA project aims to improve the educational experience of youth, like myself, by giving students a much deeper and more engaging learning experience. Through this project I will gain the valuable critical thinking and leadership skills that are needed for me to become college, career and community ready.
As a member of this project I will not only be spending 2.5 weeks in Kenya, but will also be working towards a final project and presentation to be given to the staff at East High School, all of our donors, and the greater Madison community during the 2017-2018 school year. However, getting there won't be easy since the cost of international travel is significant. Although this program is being offered fully funded it is still part of my responsibility to raise funds to cover the $4000 it costs to be a part of this project. As a group we are working hard to raise the $50,000 needed by March 15th. Through fundraising, writing grants, and soliciting sponsorships, we have already raised $30,000 but we still have a ways to go. A donation from you would help make it possible for me to participate in this unique program.
I'm very excited to work with our sister school, Malek secondary and learn all about the wildlife and conservation efforts in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. This experience will help give me understanding, awareness, and empathy towards other cultures and pursue my passion of working in the area of conservation.
Please consider donating today. It would mean so much to me. Any amount helps and any amount over my goal will help my fellow students get there as well! Thank you so much! Lukas
(You can also make direct donations to the East High School Capital Fund at the Foundation of Madison's Public Schools-select EHS capital fund and write Kenya in the notes section. FMPS is a registered 501c and will provide all necessary tax deductible paperwork.)
