Ozzy's End of Life Care

Donation protected
If you ever met my mom or I then you knew my dog Ozzy. He was a perpetually old man who traveled everywhere with us and made it to 17 years young. He was a rescue dog no one wanted and in his life he went to Disneyland, met celebrities through my work, traveled to some of the fanciest hotels in LA, lived in both parts of California, saw me through college and a Masters degree.

Ozzy suffered from a variety of health issues throughout his life and this last week he'd stopped eating and generally suffered from a severe lack of energy. We decided to do all we could to find out what was going on, including blood work and X-rays. The vet explained that there were several factors in his downturn and that, at his age, it was best to let him go.

We decided to do a compassionate transition to end-of-life at home and, on Saturday, Ozzy passed. And while we mourn his loss we're also dealing with unexpected expenses because of the vet and hospice care including:

  • $1,500 in vet bills (X-rays, blood work, emergency appointment)
  • $900 for at home hospice, euthanasia and cremation

My mom has volunteered to take all this on because Ozzy, more than anyone, was her baby. But she's on a severely fixed income and can't cover this all on her own. Any help provided goes direct to pay the bills incurred. Thanks!
